Diving

We took up diving when we were on vacation in Krabi, Thailand, in march 2000. We got the PADI Open Water Diver certificate. Learning how to dive was great fun and is highly recommended. A tip is to start out with the one day PADI Discover Scuba Diving package (we did). It gives you a chance to see if diving is for you, and if you decide to go an and take the Open Water Diver the day will count towards the full course.

The dive school Sting-Ray Divers (stingray@cscoms.com) was really great. It was very small so it was just me and Anna in the group, often with 2 instructors! On the other hand they had no proper dive boat, but getting private lessons was worth riding in long-tail boats rather than the fancy boats that the larger groups had.

Since we got our certificates we have been diving in Hurghada, Egypt, in 2001. The diving in Egypt was good, but the water a lot colder than we were used to from Thailand, and the marine life little less varied. But visibility was great!

On our trip to Gran Canaria Daniel managed some free time and went diving. 2 dives from a rocky shore, a little scary, but once in the water the diving was good, got to se both Moray Eels, stingrays and a squid.
